OPHIR platform decommissioning & relocation

Project scope:          

World’s first decommissioning and straight relocation of Ophir wellhead platform in One Piece. For this 1500Mt suction pile-based jacket, a special lifting method was developed which enabled the lifting of the jacket & topside as one lift utilizing the 5000Mt HLV “Asian Hercules III”.

Marine Masters assisted SPT Offshore in the removal, transportation in the hooks, and subsequent re-installation of the platform within a record-breaking time of 3 days. Unlike traditionally piled platforms suction pile-based jackets can be relocated/re-used very easily and cost-effectively and are therefore ideal for marginal fields.
