The establishment

Marine Masters was established by maritime experts, Henk Smith and Danny Spaans. They started their business as salvage consultants.

ISU associate member

Marine Masters became member of the International Salvage Union (ISU). At this point, we were not performing salvage services ourselves yet. As Associate Member, we focus on wreck removal and emergency response, without direct involvement in conducting salvage operations.

First job as main contractor

A life-changing moment for Marine Masters: our team had the opportunity to provide services as main contractor for the first time. On top of that, the operation was executed for one of the biggest maritime insurance specialists.

Full ISU member

Marine Masters becomes a full member of the International Salvage Union. As opposed to the membership in 2018, a Full Membership became available after acting as main contractor in salvage operations. This confirms that the company meets the industry’s highest standards for salvage operations.

First Transport & Installation

After solely focusing on wreck removal and salvage operations, Marine Masters started adding new services to its portfolio. In 2024, we landed our first job as main contractor in Transport & Installation, for the Gansar Modules in Malaysia.

First job in Decommissioning

In 2025, Marine Masters landed the first Decommissioning job in which we performed as main contractor, near the coast of Malaysia. In this rig-to-reef project, our team of experts completed the decommissioning of the South Angsi Alpha platform, crossing a project turnover of 15 million US dollars.
