Diving deeper with Salvage Master Mike Dooge
Marine Masters added a new Salvage Master to the team. The maritime journey of Mike Dooge started at 13, first discovering the world of diving. You found the beauty in solving problems and pushing limits.
A world
without limits
Mike’s maritime journey started at just 13, when a dive school opened next to his parents’ house. That’s when he got into diving, and he has not left the water since. “Underwater you have to rely on yourself. You need to solve problems on the spot and push the limits,” he explains.
Mike began his career as a professional diver, where he discovered salvage. He remained in the field as a freelancer, drawn to the adventures of the salvage world. “You head out with just a handful of people, all motivated and giving their best. That energy is contagious. Giving up simply isn’t an option. You get the job done together.”
Now Mike decided to join Marine Masters full-time. “My first talks with Henk Smith and Danny Spaans were very positive. It felt personal, like a close-knit crew, yet at the same time highly professional. And the projects are impressive, exactly the combination I was looking for.”
As Salvage Master, he is involved in everything: from tendering and preparation to execution. And when the salvage kicks off, he’s there too, making sure the work gets done anywhere in the world.
He likes international project in new environments. Right now, he’s preparing for a job in Canada. “Out there, you’re on your own. Preparation is vital, knowing what to bring, anticipating the unexpected , and solving problems creatively. That’s what makes this work exciting.”
Welcome aboard, Mike.
