Salvage spirit Jasper Rengenhart joins Marine Masters
Meet our new Senior Project Engineer & Salvage Officer. For Jasper, maritime life is in the blood. His father was a Chief Engineer at P&O Nedlloyd, and as a kid, he often went aboard. From that moment, he wanted to be a marine engineer too.
Off the
beaten path
Jasper Rengenhart spent 20 years at Maersk, first as a maritime officer, combining navigation and engineering, and later as a full-time engineer. When Maersk let go of all Dutch officers in 2021, he moved to working in the dredging sector, but soon realized that wasn’t for him. He started freelancing and then got involved on the FSO Safer project, pumping out an oil tanker off the coast of Yemen. It was his first salvage job, and that’s when it clicked. Jasper recalls: “This was something else. Adventurous. Beyond the ordinary.”
Through the network, Jasper connected with Henk Smith, taking on several freelance jobs. Now, he joins Marine Masters full-time. Jasper explains why: “It is the constant challenge. I was always excited to go to a new ship, experiencing new systems and new people. Or visiting a dry dock for repairs and installations. But the day-to-day? It didn’t challenge me anymore. I thrive in unpredictable situations, outside the norm. That is exactly what MarineMasters offers.”
The same drive for adventure runs through his personal life. In the summer, he crosses Europe on his motorbike. In the winter, he travels through Asia, with Vietnam as one of his favorites. Jasper explains: “Great food, friendly people, and incredible resilience. Their openness toward the West after everything that happened, it’s impressive. I am excited to go the Malaysia and India for Marine Masters in the coming months.”
Welcome aboard, Jasper.
